Bear Defenders started out by exposing the Florida black bear hunt in 2015 as a special interest trophy hunt backed by flawed and incomplete science. Since our inception, we have grown into a powerful coalition comprised of individuals, groups, and organizations who have joined forces in a collaborative effort to end bear hunting. We strive to educate and empower communities to take action against the unjustified hunting of bears in their State. We are on a mission to pioneer a road-map that will lead people through the process of ending bear hunting in their State. Our strategic and all-encompassing approach arms bear defenders with the education and resources needed to stop bear hunting in their State and safeguard the future existence of bears. Bear defenders operates as a part of OneProtest, a 501(c3) that dedicates their efforts to empowering local social justice, environmental and animal-rights activists and activist communities to carry out peaceful, lawful demonstrations that are well-organized, media-savvy and effective with well-designed, professionally produced posters, banners, and other materials.
